Q. How much money should I bring?
A. Besides the plane tickets to purchase, it depends, of course, on how much you want to spend on souvenirs. A visit to Dracula’s Castle (which includes permission to take pictures and film for personal memories) costs the equivalent of £6-£5. We may visit another fortress which is about the same fee.

A good lunch could be around £10 (we will have 2 lunches in the village, on Saturday and Monday). Breakfasts, dinners, trips etc are all covered, unless you wish to eat out instead of at the inn, it’s entirely your choice.

Q. Can anyone participate in this retreat?
A. This retreat is open to everyone who doesn’t suffer from health conditions or injuries that can be aggravated by exercise and long periods of walking. Please read our Disclaimer.

Q. How fit should I be?
A. You don’t need to be super fit. If you can run and hike a few miles you are good to go. We explain more in this YouTube video:

Q. Is this a boot camp retreat?
A. Training will be as difficult as you make it (unless we are hiking, then the mountains decide). The difference between a natural movement fitness retreat and a boot camp retreat is the education and mindful, intentional movement behind the exercise – you will be coached on posture, body alignment, and taken the time to work in the technical aspects of movement. That being said you will get a good workout and vamp your fitness levels.

Q. What if I have an injury or health condition?
A.  Please fill in the health form and we will get in touch. We will need a health form either way, it’s a formality we need to cover.

Q. Is there the risk of wild animal attacks?
In Romania, the brown bear is very common. There is always a risk as we will be in the mountains. However if you follow simple guidelines and safety you will be fine, avoid area with bear warning signs, of course. Stay on trails used by everyone. Ask if there were bear sightings lately. We will do this ourselves, but being aware is important.

Keep in mind that there are hundreds if not thousands of tourists and hikers in the mountains, and especially around the castle which is probably the most visited in the country. I went camping and hiking myself, since I come from that country. Hikers and campers may never even see bears. In all my travels I only saw them once around rubbish bins looking for food. So while, there is the danger (we are in the mountains!) attacks are rare. However you should be aware there are wild animals in the mountains, just like sharks in Australia and alligators in Florida. As with all the outdoors training we do in UK and abroad we do require you to agree with the risks and condition in the Disclaimer before booking.

Q. What kind of food will we be eating?
A. Traditional Romanian food, which means home grown, organic vegetables (cooked, and fresh), lots of fresh vegetable salads, local meat and cheese, soups and broths, barbecues. The food is locally grown. Menus will be decided then and there depending on what we, as a group, would like to eat.

Q. What temperatures should I expect?
A. Between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius

Q. What should I bring for the trip?
A. Please see our list of recommended kit for training.
